How the irrigation volume, depth & runtime calculator works

One hectare-millimetre equals 10 m³. Multiply hectares by selected net depth and 10 for net event volume. Divide by application efficiency for gross delivered volume and by measured delivered flow for runtime.

Positive demand with zero flow has no finite runtime. Zero area or net depth requires zero event runtime. Gross equivalent depth is the chosen net depth divided by entered efficiency.

The depth and efficiency come from your reviewed plan, not a soil/weather/crop database. No water requirement, well sustainability, pump size, distribution uniformity, runoff, infiltration or water-right determination is supplied.

Worked example

Two hectares with a chosen 20-mm net depth need 400 net m³. At 80% application efficiency, delivered volume is 500 m³, requiring 20 hours at 25 m³/h. At 50 m³/h, runtime is 10 hours.
