What a source link establishes
Each calculator links to material explaining its formula, unit definition, pricing structure or product convention. We favor standards bodies, public agencies, universities, textbooks and original product documentation where those apply. A source explains the underlying method; it does not endorse Case or validate the numbers you enter.
Example prices, rates, efficiencies, yields, material properties and operating schedules are illustrative. We do not supply live supplier prices or a universal property database. Check a value against the actual product, tariff, material, process and operating condition.
How calculations are checked
Formula checks include separately worked examples, changed-input scenarios and relevant boundary cases. Automated checks exercise valid defaults, missing or nonfinite values, impossible relationships and supported numeric ranges. Money and whole-quantity models also check rounding boundaries.
Browser checks confirm that inputs update the displayed results and that shared saves, exports and validation controls work. These checks reduce implementation errors; they do not establish that a simplified model fits every real situation.
Rounding and missing results
Financial models define whether money rounds per component, per period or after an extension. Where a minimum whole-cent charge or whole-package purchase is needed, the method states the rounding rule. Rounded display values can differ slightly from a calculation using the displayed numbers alone; CSV results retain the underlying result where available.
A missing denominator can make a ratio unavailable. A dash means no defined result under the stated assumptions, rather than zero. Invalid inputs hide the results until corrected. Very large or unsupported inputs may be rejected so the page can return a finite result reliably.
What these tools do not establish
Business scenarios do not predict demand, payments, investment returns or tax treatment. Physical models do not certify a structure, select safe equipment limits, determine a permitted discharge, establish a chemical procedure or choose an agronomic recommendation. Specialist tools identify their loading, property, condition and model boundaries on the page.
When a tool asks for an allowable stress, recommended nutrient rate or other reviewed parameter, you must supply a value appropriate to your situation. The arithmetic does not perform the review that produced that parameter.
Privacy and keeping a scenario
Calculator inputs are processed in your browser. Optional saved scenarios use this device’s local storage; unsaved edits are not kept when you leave. CSV downloads may contain the assumptions and results you entered, so review the file before sharing it. Currency choices change the label and formatting; they do not perform exchange-rate conversion.
Analytics choices remain optional. Consented calculator events identify the tool and an action such as use, save or export; entered values are not included in those event names. See our privacy policy for the site’s broader practices.
Report a calculation issue
Send the page URL, a nonconfidential reproducible example, your expected result and the source for that expectation to hello@caseandcontrast.com. Please omit personal, client or confidential information. A source or formula may need correction when a convention changes or a model boundary is unclear.
