How the fertilizer quantity & nutrient cost calculator works
Target nutrient mass is hectares times the rate supplied by your locally reviewed plan. Divide by the primary nutrient fraction for required product mass, then round product mass divided by pack mass upward. Purchased mass times each analysis fraction gives nutrients in inventory.
Target and product analysis must use the same nutrient basis: elemental N, P or K is not interchangeable with oxide labels P₂O₅ or K₂O. The two declared analysis percentages cannot exceed 100% together.
Whole-pack surplus is inventory, not an instruction to apply the whole purchase. No soil-based recommendation, crop need, nutrient availability, blend or agronomic rates database is supplied. Zero target suppresses product and application costs.
Worked example
Ten hectares at a user-chosen 100 kg/ha target needs 1,000 kg primary nutrient. At 20% analysis this requires 5,000 kg, or 100 whole 50-kg packs. At $30/pack plus $20/ha application, budget is $3,200. A 25% primary analysis reduces it to $2,600.
