How the grain drying cost calculator works

Moisture points are starting percentage less target percentage. Multiply original wet bushels by those points and each entered energy factor for fuel units and kWh. Add their priced cost and one labor/dryer allowance, then round total to cents.

A moisture point is a percentage-point difference, not a relative reduction. Factors must come from measured or equipment-specific requirements; no standard fuel or electricity coefficient is inferred.

Target cannot exceed starting moisture. Zero bushels or zero points suppresses this event. This budget does not calculate shrink or dry sale bushels, select a moisture target, assess grain quality or guarantee dryer performance.

Worked example

Ten thousand wet bushels removing five points at 0.02 fuel units and 0.01 kWh per bushel-point uses 1,000 fuel units and 500 kWh. At $2/unit and $0.20/kWh plus $300 event costs, total is $2,400. Fuel at $3/unit makes it $3,400.
