How the fuel blend energy scenario calculator works

Each component energy equals its quantity multiplied by its matching heat content. Combined input energy is the sum. The weighted heat content divides that energy by the sum of component quantities. At zero total quantity, the weighted result is undefined while total energy is zero.

Mass mode uses kg and kWh/kg. Volume mode uses litres and kWh/L with matching temperature and reference conditions. Both heat contents must be on the same higher/gross or lower/net basis. The volume denominator is the sum of entered feed volumes; it is not proof that the physical final mixture volume is additive.

This is nonreactive energy accounting. It does not specify a blend, predict combustion, certify fuel quality, calculate emissions or establish compatibility and safe mixing. Density, reactions, shrinkage and commercial custody-transfer adjustments need a separate appropriate model.

Worked example

Component A contributes 100 × 10 = 1,000 input kWh and B contributes 200 × 5 = 1,000. Total energy is 2,000 over 300 matching quantity units, or approximately 6.667 kWh/unit. Raising component B heat content to 6 gives 2,200 kWh and approximately 7.333 kWh/unit.
