How the stone veneer mortar quantity calculator works
For each product line, required bag count = ceil(area × (1 + allowance / 100) ÷ matching coverage per bag). Extend each whole bag count at its quoted price, round its cost, then sum the three product lines. Set a line’s area to zero to exclude it.
Each line is treated as a distinct product with coverage matching the intended layer or joint geometry. Identical products are not pooled automatically, so this may overorder where leftovers can be shared. Thickness, substrate, veneer attachment, curing and assembly compliance must be established separately; no layer or installation system is recommended.
Quantities use the stated units and finite bounded inputs. Whole purchases round up under the documented model; cost components round half-up to cents before totals are summed. Undefined ratios stay unavailable. π and logarithms use normal numeric precision. Display rounding does not alter the entered assumptions.
Worked example
Three 30 m² product lines with 10% allowance give 33 m² each. At entered coverage of 3, 2 and 5 m²/bag, purchases are 11, 17 and 7 bags. Prices of 8, 10 and 12 total 342. Excluding the bond area leaves 172.
