How the paver joint sand calculator works
Planning paved area = paved area × (1 + ordering allowance / 100). Whole bags = ceil(planning area ÷ product coverage in m²/bag). Coverage is entered from an appropriate product table for the actual joint and paver geometry, rather than inferred from area alone.
Purchased coverage capacity is whole bags × entered coverage per bag. Material cost extends the price over whole bags and rounds half-up to cents. One separately rounded delivery fee applies only when bags are purchased. Zero area gives no bags, material cost or delivery.
This is jointing material only, not bedding sand. Product coverage varies with paver dimensions, joint width and depth. The tool does not establish permissible joint dimensions, drainage, application conditions or product suitability. Sika’s instructions illustrate why product-specific joint geometry matters; the example 5 m²/bag is not a universal coverage claim.
Worked example
50 m² with a 10% ordering allowance gives 55 m². An entered coverage of 5 m²/bag requires 11 bags. At an illustrative 30/bag plus 20 delivery, total is 350. For 25 m², 27.5 m² after allowance requires six bags and costs 200 including the same delivery.
