How the concrete pour duration calculator works
Placement hours = entered concrete volume in cubic metres ÷ effective average cubic metres placed per hour. The effective rate must be positive. Choose a rate consistent with actual site access, delivery coordination, placement method and finishing workflow.
For a positive volume, elapsed crew hours = placement hours + (setup minutes + pause minutes) ÷ 60. Setup and pauses are added once. A zero-volume scenario has zero placement, elapsed time and crew time value, even when setup or pause fields are populated.
Crew time value = unrounded elapsed hours × entered whole-crew hourly value, rounded half-up to cents. It is a valuation of time, not automatically an incremental payroll or supplier charge. Other equipment, overtime, waiting fees and finishing work are excluded unless reflected in the entered rate or time.
This is scheduling arithmetic, not a concrete placement specification. It does not establish a permissible placement window, curing method, joint strategy, cold-joint risk or safe pumping arrangement. NRMCA’s ordering guidance gives delivery coordination context; the example rate is an entered assumption.
Worked example
20 m³ at an entered 8 m³/h takes 2.5 hours to place. Adding 30 minutes setup and 15 minutes pauses gives 3.25 elapsed hours. At an illustrative whole-crew value of 90/h, that time is valued at 292.50. Increasing the effective rate to 10 m³/h gives 2.75 hours and 247.50.
