How the hotel booking channel net revenue calculator works

This scenario represents one completed stay with the same gross nightly room revenue, stay length and variable occupied-night cost in both channels. Commission applies to gross room revenue. Payment percentage applies to that same base, plus one fixed payment fee. Acquisition cost applies once per completed stay.

Commission and payment charge round separately to cents before acquisition cost is added. Net channel revenue deducts those charges; stay contribution additionally deducts nights × variable room-night cost. The verdict compares the rounded contributions, and an equal displayed contribution is a tie rather than a false winner.

Tax, ancillary revenue, refunds, cancellation terms, channel-specific demand, conversion and loyalty value are not inferred. The supplied rates are illustrative rather than current OTA or payment-provider prices. Confirm the actual fee bases and whether a per-stay or per-night charge applies before preparing a comparison.

Worked example

Three nights at 100 give 300 room revenue and 60 variable room cost. A charges 15% commission, 3% plus 0.30 payment fee and 5 acquisition cost, leaving 180.70 contribution. B has no commission, the same payment fee and 20 acquisition cost, leaving 210.70, or 30 more. Reducing A commission to 5% makes contributions equal at 210.70.
