How the viscosity unit converter calculator works

Dynamic viscosity μ in Pa·s equals density in kg/m³ times kinematic viscosity ν in m²/s. One cP equals one mPa·s and one cSt equals one mm²/s. Convert the selected source to SI, then use density to relate the two viscosity types.

Viscosity and density must describe the same composition, temperature and pressure. Changing density changes cross-type conversion, not the entered original dynamic or kinematic quantity.

No property lookup, temperature correction or Newtonian-behavior assumption is verified. Zero viscosity is an arithmetic boundary, not a claim about fluid suitability or real process performance.

Worked example

Ten mPa·s is 0.01 Pa·s. At 1,000 kg/m³ this is 0.00001 m²/s or 10 cSt. At density 800 kg/m³, the same dynamic viscosity corresponds to 12.5 cSt.

Sources and assumptions

The source material explains the underlying calculation or pricing structure. Entered prices, costs, schedules and scenario choices are your assumptions; this tool does not obtain supplier quotes or predict actual results.
