How the milling material removal rate calculator works
Rectangular-engagement removal rate in cm³/min = axial millimetres × radial millimetres × table feed in mm/min ÷ 1,000. Divide the entered target cm³ by that rate for ideal removal minutes. Zero target volume requires zero removal time.
Positive target volume at zero removal rate has unavailable time. Inputs are selected elsewhere, not recommendations for depth, width or feed. Variable engagement, acceleration, tool wear, rigidity and process limits are omitted; an arithmetic rate is not a machine-capacity or safe-cutting claim.
Quantities use the stated units and finite bounded inputs. Whole purchases round up under the documented model; cost components round half-up to cents before totals are summed. Undefined ratios stay unavailable. π and logarithms use normal numeric precision. Display rounding does not alter the entered assumptions.
Worked example
2 mm axial × 10 mm radial × 300 mm/min gives 6,000 mm³/min, or 6 cm³/min. Removing 60 cm³ takes ten ideal minutes. At 600 mm/min feed, rate is 12 cm³/min and time is five minutes.
