How the invoice aging & collections calculator works
Use one reporting date and days past the invoice due date. Current balances are not overdue; the other four buckets are mutually exclusive ranges. Enter each outstanding balance once. Balance inputs round to cents before the totals are assembled. No customer names, invoice identifiers or due dates are required.
Scenario collections equal each bucket balance multiplied by its entered collection percentage, rounded separately to cents, then summed. The overdue share is overdue balance divided by total entered receivables. A zero total gives an undefined share. Starting percentages are illustrative assumptions and do not encode a measured relationship between age and recovery.
The table places older overdue buckets first as an age-based review order. It does not rank individual debtors, recommend a collection action or establish legal priority. The remainder is simply not modeled as collected under the scenario; it is not a credit-loss allowance, bad-debt expense or determination that a balance is uncollectible.
Worked example
Balances of 10,000 current, 5,000 at 1–30 days, 3,000 at 31–60 days, 1,000 at 61–90 days and 1,000 at 91+ days total 20,000, with 10,000 overdue. Collection assumptions of 100%, 95%, 85%, 70% and 40% yield 10,000 + 4,750 + 2,550 + 700 + 400 = 18,400 scenario collections. Raising the oldest-bucket assumption to 80% increases collections to 18,800.
