How the drywall finishing material calculator works
Compound kilograms = net board area × entered kilograms per square metre × (1 + allowance / 100). Whole packages round that mass divided by package mass upward. Tape metres = measured seam length × the same allowance multiplier; whole rolls round metres divided by roll length upward.
Coverage must come from the selected product and intended finish/application. A generic finish-level number cannot establish coverage. The model prices whole compound packages and tape rolls separately and sums their rounded costs. It excludes tools, labor, fixings, delivery and any installation-system specification.
Quantities use the stated units and finite bounded inputs. Whole purchases round up under the documented model; cost components round half-up to cents before totals are summed. Undefined ratios stay unavailable. π and logarithms use normal numeric precision. Display rounding does not alter the entered assumptions.
Worked example
100 m² at an entered 0.5 kg/m² plus 10% needs 55 kg, or three 20 kg packages at 25 each. A 100 m seam run plus 10% needs two 75 m tape rolls at 5 each. Total is 85. At 60 m², compound falls to two packages and total to 60.
