How the battery arbitrage scenario calculator works

Delivered energy equals purchased charge energy × the entered round-trip efficiency. Its value uses a rate per delivered kWh; the purchase charge uses a rate per input kWh. These two boundaries avoid applying loss twice or assuming every purchased kWh can be sold or displaced.

Gross delivered value, purchase cost and the entered degradation allowance are cent amounts for one cycle. Net cycle value is their difference, then multiplied by the whole count of cycles. The stated allowance applies to every counted cycle, even when a zero-energy cycle is entered; use a zero count when no cycle occurs.

This is an entered operating-value scenario. It does not optimize dispatch, assess battery power or energy limits, determine market permission, calculate demand-charge savings or forecast cycling availability. Actual tariff, export and degradation behavior need separate review; negative value remains visible.

Worked example

Ten purchased kWh at 80% round-trip efficiency deliver 8 kWh. At input price 0.10 and delivered value 0.30, gross value is 2.40 and charge cost is 1.00. After 0.20 degradation allowance, net cycle value is 1.20; 100 cycles total 120. A 0.50 allowance reduces the total to 90.
